Sue has been with us since 2000, during which time she has seen the organisation grow beyond all expectations. "I enjoy working with the team both in the UK and overseas. Everyday is a new challenge at Hope and Homes for Children and we never lose sight of why we're doing the work we do.
"When it is a cold, wet, horrible morning and I don't want to get up, I do think how lucky I am that I have a roof over my head, that I'm warm, that I have hot and cold running water and food. I think of the children and families the teams are working with who in many cases are on the verge of being separated because they don't have one or any of these things - it sounds a bit of a cliché, but it does motivate me".
Over the years, Sue has seen a variety of our programmes overseas grow and develop. She says that it is our country teams that really inspire her: "they work very hard to achieve their goals and they never give up."

When we began work in Romania in 1999 there were 100,000 children trapped in institutional care. Today the figure is less than 11,000 and the Romanian Government has committed to working with us to close every state run institution by 2020.

There are lots of ways to help us make sure that children grow up in the love of a family.
