Line up announced for Night of Adventure London

03 January 12

Would-be explorers and daredevils are advised to book early for Night of Adventure London to avoid disappointment. Tickets for the event, which sold out in a matter of weeks last year and raised £9,000 for our work, go on sale today. Funds raised from the event will help us to support even more vulnerable children in 2012.

Night of Adventure is an exciting event where an eclectic collection of adventurers, from across the spectrum of explorers, daredevils and travellers, come together to share their experiences with a live audience. Following on from the huge success of our previous events, Night of Adventure London is taking place at Vue Cinema, Leicester Square on Monday 20th February with an impressive line up of explorers ready to tell their tales.

Each speaker is limited to just 20 slides to accompany their tales. The challenge is that each slide will automatically scroll forward after just 20 seconds, it really is fast and furious! With this unusual and challenging presentation format, once the talk begins the audience must be ready to be swept from adventure to adventure throughout the evening.

Night of Adventure London line up

Dave Cornthwaite - Dave is probably best known for his expedition1000 project, an ambitious series of journeys of at least 1000 miles, each using a different method of non-motorised transport. These include two world-record breaking feats, a 3,618 mile skate across Australia and stand up paddle-boarding the length of the Mississippi River, a distance of 2,404 miles.

Ann Daniels - Ann Daniels is a record-breaking polar explorer. Described by Prince Charles as "a wonderful example of determination and true British grit", Ann is a renowned public speaker who has organised, led and taken part in five major polar expeditions. Ann has recently returned from co-leading the Catlin Arctic Survey and is now planning an exciting new venture for 2012.

Andy Cambell - In eight years Andy has unintentionally gone from soldier to adventurer, exchanging the intensity of military operations for the exhiliration and frustration of exploring the world in a wheelchair. Paralysed in a climbing accident, discharged from the British Army and forced to reevaluate life, Andy set off to test his new limitations and expectations for adventure and discover where determination, stubborness and a healthy dose of rebellion could take him. His resulting adventures, from making first ski descents of Alaskan peaks, paragliding over Africa or trekking through the Himalayas, have all formed a motivational catalyst for his next adventure. In June 2012 Andy will set off from the UK to push himself 30,000 miles around the world in a wheelchair.

The line up also includes Alex Flynn, Ben Keene and Mark Kalch.

Did you know?

When we began work in Romania in 1999 there were 100,000 children trapped in institutional care. Today the figure is less than 11,000 and the Romanian Government has committed to working with us to close every state run institution by 2020.
