Mark Cook OBE

Mark Cook OBE

Mark Cook founded Hope and Homes for Children with his wife Caroline in 1994. A soldier for more than 30 years, Mark left the army in 1993 to help child victims of the Balkans conflict. They started by rebuilding the Bjelave orphanage in Sarajevo but, recognising that there is no such thing as a ‘good’ orphanage, they went on to reverse their approach, closing institutions and returning children to families.
